Does Henna come in multiple colors?
Henna itself is always a dark greenish or reddish brown. If you see it any other color,
that means a chemical additive. That can be very dangerous!
AVOID BLACK HENNA!!!
It can cause nasty skin reactions, infection and even liver damage! I use only all natural ingredients.
Henna Temporary Botanical Tattooing has become very popular at many fairs and festivals around the United States.
What
is Henna?
Its a natural botanical dye used to decorate skin in beautiful and lasting designs. This ancient art is also
called Mehndi.
What is the paste made of?
Henna is a plant, a scrubby little bush with yellow flowers. The leaves and
stems are dried and made into a fine powder. I make my own paste from henna powder, eucalyptus essential oil and ordinary
lemon juice.
How is Henna applied?
The ancient Egyptians used to dip an African porcupine quill into the henna to draw lines
and dots on the skin. More commonly today, it comes out of a squeeze bottle with a fine tip and is applied very much like cake
icing.
Where does Henna come from?
The Middle East and India have a rich cultural heritage involving henna.
Henna is traditionally applied to the hands before weddings and onto the bellies of pregnant women. I obtain my high quality
henna from Ojai Body Arts.
Does it hurt?
Not at all. Henna goes ON the skin, not into it.
