The henna plant has been used as a dye for thousands of years. More commonly in the West, compounds made from the roots are used to
naturally give hair a deep auburn color.
The Middle East and India have rich traditions in the use of dye made from the leaves and stems applied to the skin in beautiful and
elaborate designs. This application is also called Mehndi.
