Front Cover D'ANGELO

D'Angelo Canto Gardante is a Renaissance man wannabe. His woeful ineptitude for science, mathematics and music do not deter him from pursuing them with enthusiasm. D'Angelo's true talent, a gift for languages, gave him easy fluency in Zimbellian, Italian, Latin, Greek, English and French. He also excelled in literature, theology and history during his formal education Florence.

Honest, idealistic and devout, D'Angelo's chief failing is a startling naiveté. Elder only by a few minutes, Liano tends to address him "little brother." Although not as skilled a swordsman as his brother, his enthusiasm and bravery are undoubted. Unfortunately, this gives him tendency to rush into danger without looking. He can at times be this wildly passionate, falling in love in seconds flat, and pedantically judgmental.

In addition to his thoughtful journals, D'Angelo does most of the real work of a royal emissary, writing reports and endless expense requests. Although, fairly easygoing about his brother's vices, D'Angelo sometimes feels it his real and personal duty to keep his brother's soul out of Hell. He views their task to find the Princess as "our noble quest."

Ray Hawkins was the model for both twins in the story The Leather Strap. He brought to the project a Romanian nose of considerable character and the ability to return notarized model release forms with breathtaking alacrity. Thanks Ray!
